Classes Offered Mighty Movers Designed especially for preschool children ages 3-5. We introduce fine and grow motor skills in a way way. Some techniques we work on are skipping, hopping, right foot, left foot, spins, jumps, kicks and claps. Correct terminology is used for the dance steps. Add music to teh mix for squeals and delight! Ballet and tap are both taught in a 30 minute time frame. Pre Tumbling Designed especially for preschool children ages 3-5. The kids learn basic tumbling skills including balance, stretch, cartwheels, headstands, and front/back somersaults. We use several mats and teach them how to warm up their mighty little muscles! This class runs for 30 minutes. Tiny Tots Clogging Designed especially for preschool children ages 3-5. The students learn clog patterns and beginning steps. Similar to mighty movers as they learn right from left foot, jumps, and spins. Correct terminology is used for the dance steps and country music is commonly used. This class runs for 30 minutes. Ballet French terminology is taught with positions and step work. The students are taught to remember what the muscles should feel like when working correctly. Classes include barre work for strength, center floor adagio for grace, and flexibility. Center floor allegro with a variety of small jumps increase speed and strength. Turns and leaps across the floor are typically the favorites amongst the students. Kindergarten thru 3rd grade is 30 minutes long and 4th on up is 45 minutes long. Tap The fundamentals of tap with the traditional steps and tap dance stance. Steps include: shuffle ball change, Irish, maxie ford, buffalo, cramp rolls, flap ball change, waltz, clog, trenches, spank steps, nerve taps, pick ups and wings. Correct terminology is used for the dance steps. The students learn a variety of combinations and speed to advance the students in sounds and rhythms. All age levels go for 30 minutes. Jazz Jazz is a rhythmic movement class, inspired by various kinds of music. Jazz uses techniques from ballet, rhythms from tap and clogging, and flexibility from tumbling to create a strong jazz dancer. Music will include popular music from the radio, Broadway music, African drums, and 50's fun. The kids learn warm-ups, turns, kicks, leaps and combinations. All age levels go for 30 minutes. Pom Dance A combination of jazz dance basics and the terminology PLUS the spirit of cheerleading and pom dance. We focus on columns, yardsticks, and contagents! We use real poms in class and this class runs for 30 minutes. Hip Hop Hip Hop dance can range from popping, drill teams moves to a funky music video style. Create visual fun without crossing the line into inappropriate moves. All music is checked for lyrical content. This class runs for 30 minutes. Modern Modern has a set of dance rules all its own such as percussive movement, suspension, imagery, smooth, parallel body alignment, swing, and much more! This class is only offered to Middle school students or older and lasts 30 minutes. Lyrical This class requires flexibility and strength. Combinations and technique are difficult and challenge the dancer. A variety of leaps and turns are taught. Lyrical dances act out the emotional feel of a song. All music is checked for lyrical content. Lyrical is offered for Middle and High School students and each class lasts 45 minutes. Pointe Pointe dance is sometimes called "Toe" dance as you literally dance on your toes. Pointe is a very advanced ballet, everything you learn in ballet through the years, you use to carry your body smoothly onto pointe. The students must be at least 12 years old to go on pointe. This class is 30 minutes long. Clogging Clogging is folk, rhythm dance similar to tap. The shoe consists of both a ball and heel tap, except they have an additional tap riveted to each ball and heel. Clogging uses "flatfoot" footwork along with high knees. Correct terminology is used for the dance steps. The music often has a strong downbeat. Classes are divided by ability, not necessarily age. Advanced clog combines traditional clog with power tap clog. This is a more contemporary style and has more tap influence. All classes are 30 minutes except adult clog which goes for 45 minutes. Tumbling Beginning Tumbling (30 min.)- Rolls, cartwheels, hand and headstands, and backbends. Advanced Beg. Tumbling (45 min.)- Must have accomplished back bend without crashing your head to the mat. Round offs, backbends, front limbers, back walkovers, handstands, and handstand roll outs. Intermediate Tumbling (45 min.)- Requires a self supported handstand that is straight and tight as well as a backbend goind down and up unassisted. Work on limbers, walkovers, power roundoffs, and combinations. Flip Flop (Advanced Tumbling) Flip Flop 1 (45 min.)- Strength and Stretch along with Skill and Drills create strong technique based kids. Flip Flops or back hand springs are the main focus along with front handsprings. Require mental and physical readiness. Flip Flop 2 (45 min.)- Strength and Stretch along with Skill and Drills create strong technique based kids. For this stage students must have a full mental understanding of flip flops, front handsprings finish standing, menta, emotional, and physical readiness. Flip Flop 3 (45 min.)- Strength and Stretch along with Skill and Drills create strong technique based kids. Students must complete a round off flip flop with little spotting, aggressiveness and power on skills, and mental, emotional, and physical readiness. Flip Flop 4 (45 min.)- Strength and Stretch along with Skill and Drills create strong technique based kids. Requirements for this class are round off flip flop unspotted, close on side aerials, and mental, emotional, and physical readiness. Flip Flop 5 (45 min.)- Strength and Stretch along with Skill and Drills create strong technique based kids. Requirements are round off and two flip flops unspotted, mental, emotional, and physical readiness.
